Box breathing (also called four-square or tactical breathing) is a simple technique of inhaling, holding, exhaling, and holding again for an equal count each — tracing the four equal sides of a box. The classic pattern is 4 seconds per stage, but any equal count works.
It's widely used by athletes, first responders, and military personnel to stay calm and focused under pressure, and it's just as useful for everyday stress.
